MMUF PhD Lillian Guerra (Dartmouth '92) has received one of 178 fellowships awarded by the Guggenheim Memorial Foundation for 2014. Dr. Guerra, who is Professor of Cuban and Caribbean History at the University of Florida, was selected as an MMUF fellow at Dartmouth College and earned her PhD in history from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 2000, following which she taught at Bates College and Yale University.

MMUF is the subject of a featured article published today in the online and print editions of  Diverse Issues in Higher Education. The article profiles three MMUF PhDs - Sean Decatur, Ben Vinson and Stephen Pitti - who are now in high-level administrative or faculty positions at their institutions, and who discuss the importance of MMUF in opening up the paths that led them to their current positions. The MMUF Undergraduate Journal for 2013-2014 has just been published by Harvard University's MMUF program. It features articles by 33 current undergraduate Mellon fellows from across the program.

MMUF PhD LeRhonda (Rhon) Manigault-Bryant (Duke '99) earned tenure at Williams College in December 2013 (see the announcement here). Rhon earned her PhD from Emory University in religion and Africana studies in 2007. Prior to her arrival at Williams in 2011, she taught at Wake Forest University.

MMUF PhD Garikai Campbell (Swarthmore '90) was named Provost and Senior Vice President of Morehouse College in July 2013. Dr. Campbell earned his PhD in mathematics from Rutgers University in 1998. Previously he was Dean of Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of Mathematics and Statistics at Swarthmore College, where he also served as coordinator of Swarthmore's MMUF program. Congratulations to Garikai!

MMUF PhD Neil Roberts (Brown University '98) earned tenure at Williams College in December 2013 (see the announcement here). Neil earned his PhD from the University of Chicago in political science in 2007. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins University before his arrival at Williams in 2008.

MMUF PhD Patrice Rankine (Brooklyn College '92) has been named dean for the arts and humanities at Hope College. Patrice previously served as assistant head of the School of Languages and Cultures and director of the Interdisciplinary  Program in Classics at Purdue University, where he has taught for the last 15 years, following his completion of a PhD in classical literature from Yale University in 1998. Patrice will also serve as a professor of classics at Hope College.
